If you have a trip coming up, and you’re looking for some simple healthy travel tips, you’re in the right place.

In this post, I’m sharing some of my favorite healthy travel tips, hacks, and essentials to help you feel good while you’re away!

When I travel, my routine inevitably gets thrown off.

One of the ways I try to soften that change in routine is by having little healthy hacks in place that I can implement while I’m away!

My goal isn't to have rigid structure; it’s to find small ways to prioritize my health and wellness no matter where I am in the world.

Besides that, I always feel so much better knowing that, even if the ginger tea didn’t outweigh the frozen margaritas and midnight tacos, at least I did something to take care of myself.

So, without further ado, here are 10 healthy travel tips, hacks, and essentials to help you feel your best while you’re away!

1. Organic Ginger Tea

I love drinking a cleansing tea first thing in the morning, and ginger is one of my go-to's.

It's anti-inflammatory, great for digestion, and I always feel like it helps me start the day on the right foot.

Toss a few tea bags into your purse or suitcase, and you're good to go!

Tips:

If you don't have access to your usual tea prep tools, here are some of my favorite tea brewing hacks:

  • Heat your water in the microwave for 60 seconds in a ceramic mug or glass measuring cup

  • Heat the water in a Keurig

  • Let the tea bag steep in room temperature water for 10-20 minutes

2. Reusable Water Bottle

Packing a reusable water bottle is an easy healthy travel hack that can also save you a lot of money on your trip.

Fill it up as often as you need to throughout the day, then wash it out, and let it air dry overnight!

Tips:

As much as I LOVE my glass drinking vessels, it's way more travel-friendly to pack something more lightweight and durable like a Blender Bottle.

3. Workout Set

Whenever I travel, I like to pack something I can sweat in!

For shorter trips (or if I want to save on space), I'll usually just pack one or two workout outfits. When I'm done with one outfit, I'll rinse it out in the shower, and let it air dry in case I want to wear it again.

Tips:

If I'm not washing my clothes right after a workout, I like to freshen them up with the Sport Spray from The Laundress, or a mixture of water and essential oils. Just spray a few spritzes onto the smelliest parts of your clothes, and you're good to go!

4. Dirty Clothes Bag

This one might not directly relate to health and wellness, but it's important for your mental health. (Who feels good about mixing all their clean and dirty clothes together?? No one!)

I always try to pack a dirty clothes bag in my suitcase. I have two cute ones that came with my Beis duffle bags, but a large mesh laundry bag or plastic grocery bag works great, too!

PSA: Remember to let any wet or sweaty clothes dry completely before packing them into your dirty clothes bag!!

I’ve made the mistake one too many times of packing sweaty clothes into a hamper, and throwing more and more clothes on top each day.

By the time wash day comes around, the clothes are stinky, mildewy, and it takes a lot of vinegar, baking soda, and extra rinses to get the smell out.

Before tossing your clothes into the dirty clothes bag, hang them over the shower bar or balcony to dry, or use a clothes drying rack if you have one.

5. Guilt Free Treats

I always travel with snacks. I think snack shopping might actually be one of my favorite parts of prepping for a trip.

But besides being ready when hunger strikes, packing guilt free treats and snacks is a great hack to help you satisfy your cravings while you're away!

Here are some of my favorites:

6. High Quality Magnesium Spray

I’ve been using the topical magnesium spray from Cymbiotika for months now, ever since I heard an interview with the founder, Chervin Jafarieh, on the Skinny Confidential podcast.

Magnesium helps to boost your brain health, promote joint health, reduce anxiety levels, and improve sleep quality (ALWAYS important, but even more so when your routine is thrown off).

I keep my magnesium spray on my nightstand, and spray it after I shower, and before bed.

In addition to Cymbiotika, I’ve also used the Ease Magnesium spray from Activation Products.

7. Adjustable Eye Mask

If you're super sensitive to light like I am, and you struggle to fall asleep with even the tiniest bit of light seeping in, an adjustable eye mask will be your best friend.

For me, it really helps to block out light, and help me fall asleep faster.

I don’t remember where I found my current eye mask (probably Amazon), but I also have my eye on this cute leopard print sleep eye mask from Kitsch!

8. Magnetic Bookmark

Kind of like the dirty clothes bag, this healthy travel hack doesn’t really have anything to do with health or wellness, but I still wanted to include it on the list!

I've been trying to read physical books more often, and I love using magnetic bookmarks to hold my place!

I have this set of Dabney Lee magnetic bookmarks from Target. They're super cute, and stay in place much better than traditional bookmarks.

The one thing I don't love is that they have the same design on each side, so sometimes it takes me a minute to remember where I left off.

To fix that, I just put a little sticker on one side to indicate which page I left off on.

9. Satin Pillowcase

I’ve been using satin pillowcases for years, and I always bring one with me when I travel!

Satin pillowcases are gentler on the hair and skin than cotton pillowcases, and I also feel better knowing I’m resting my head on a pillowcase that I washed myself.

10. Better Sleep App

Last on the list is one of my favorite hacks, not just for travel, but for LIFE: the Better Sleep app (formerly Relax Melodies)!

This app is absolutely EVERYTHING. It’s great for blocking out background noise, and creating a relaxing environment to help you fall asleep.

I use it everywhere, even when I'm home, and it's one of the best free apps I've ever downloaded.

The premium version of the app also includes meditations, and other tools to help you relax.

Highly recommend.

I hope you found these healthy travel hacks helpful, and that you're excited to try some of them on your next trip!

Remember, it's not about being perfect. It's about finding small ways to take care of yourself, and prioritize your health and wellness while you're away.
