Frozen treats have always been a summer staple for me. Actually, they're kind of an all-year staple, but in the summertime, they hit a little different.

When I was younger, all I cared about was getting as many popsicles, ice cream cones, and SpongeBob SquarePants pops into my body as humanly possible. I didn't think twice about what I was actually putting into my body, and it wasn't until way later that I realized those treats were loaded with sugar, artificial colors, and other ingredients that weren’t doing my body any good.

I mean, don't get me wrong, they were delicious! But they also came with side effects like blood sugar spikes, anxiety, and gut discomfort.

As an adult, I still like to indulge, but when I do, I try to do it in a healthier way. It doesn't always happen, but more often than not, I look for higher quality products with cleaner, more natural ingredients. Back in the day, it was harder to find healthier alternatives. Now, there are so many options to choose from, and with online shopping, your options are virtually unlimited!

So, if you're looking to indulge in a healthier way this summer, here are three of my favorite guilt-free frozen treats!

1. So Delicious: Vanilla Bean Coconut Milk Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert (No Sugar Added)

This is one of my favorite non-dairy ice cream alternatives right now. The flavor is a little different than traditional ice cream, but it's more than enough to satisfy my ice cream cravings! Here are some of the things I love about this ice cream alternative:

  • Healthy fats from organic coconut milk

  • Sweetened with monk fruit and stevia

  • Less than 10 grams of net carbs per serving (net carbs = total carbs minus total fiber; the higher the number, the greater the effect on your blood sugar levels)

  • 1 gram of sugar per serving

Something else I love about this coconut milk ice cream is that it’s really easy to customize. Some of my favorite add-ins are:

One thing to keep in mind is that just because a product is labeled “sugar-free,” that doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Always make sure to read your labels, and do your research!

2. Good Pop Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry Shortcake pops were my FAVORITE as a kid, so I was really excited when I found out that Good Pop made a healthier version. It's not the original, but this Strawberry Shortcake pop is more than enough to satisfy my nostalgic popsicle cravings. Here are a few things I love about Good Pop’s Strawberry Shortcake pops:

  • Organic

  • Dairy free

  • Gluten free

  • Healthy fats from organic coconut cream

  • 100 calories and 12 grams net carbs per pop

  • Less than 10 ingredients (and they’re all simple!)

3. Good Pop Orange n’ Cream

Another one of my favorites from Good Pop is the Orange n’ Cream pop. Talk about nostalgia. If you're a fan of orange creamsicles, you have to try this one! Here's what I love about it:

  • Organic

  • Dairy free

  • Healthy fats from organic coconut cream

  • 90 calories and 11 grams net carbs per pop

  • Made with fair trade ingredients
