If you’ve been struggling to stick to your workouts, you are NOT alone! So many of us struggle to stay on track with our goals, and working out is no different. The good news is, staying on track is so much easier than you think, so if you’re ready to get into a consistent workout routine, here are five tips to help you stick to your workouts!

1. Track your workouts.

Hands down, tracking my workouts was the single biggest thing that helped me get into a consistent workout routine.

When I was in college, my best friend and I started tracking our workouts in a shared Google spreadsheet. It kept me accountable knowing that someone else would be logging their workouts, and would see whether or not I’d done mine. You can make a spreadsheet of your own, use a fitness tracking journal, or download a fitness tracking app like FitBit!

2. Ask a friend, family member, or co-worker to be your accountability partner.

If you benefit from having outside accountability, having an accountability partner can be a great way to stay on track with your workouts.

At the beginning of each week, tell your accountability partner your top three health and fitness goals for the week (for example: do three 30-minute workouts). Once you’ve hit your goals for the week, text your partner to let them know you’re done!

3. Join an accountability group.

You can join my free health and fitness accountability group here, or Google “accountability group” to find the one that’s right for you!

4. Workout with a friend or loved one.

Knowing that someone else is counting on you to show up can be a HUGE motivator to workout when you don’t feel like it. Schedule a workout with a friend once or twice a week, and make an agreement that if you can’t workout together in person, you’ll workout together online.

5. Work with an accountability coach.

Unlike a personal trainer, an accountability coach isn’t necessarily going to lead you through a workout. Instead, they’ll help you stay on track with your goals! You can learn more about my Accountability Coaching Program here, or Google “accountability coach” to find an accountability coach or program that’s right for you!

Bonus Tip:

If you work from home, love dogs, and have the ability to do so, sign up for a service like Rover! You can sign up to be a dog walker, dog sitter, or board dogs in your home. For me, knowing that I have a dog relying on me motivates me to get up, and get outside throughout the day!

Right now, it might feel impossible to get into a consistent workout routine.

It might feel like it takes all the energy in the world to get up and move your body.

It might feel like no matter how hard you try, something always comes up to throw you off track, but I promise it won’t always feel that way.

In another blog post, Hannah Setzer of @feedingtubefitness said, “Find what feels good to your body, and do it,” and I couldn’t agree more.

More often than not, exercise should be something you look forward to, not something you dread!

Find a form of movement that feels good to YOU, and whether it’s five, 10, or 15 minutes, commit to doing the best you can with what you have!
